Our President Prof. Barış Tan Attended the “From Lab to Society: Translational Science in Neural, Cognitive, and Emotional Development of Children and Adolescents” Conference

Özyeğin University President Prof. Barış Tan attended the “From Lab to Society: Translational Science in Neural, Cognitive, and Emotional Development of Children and Adolescents” Conference, a distinguished event designed to enhance national and international collaboration in the fields of psychology and neuroscience.

Held on June 11, 2025, at Swissôtel The Bosphorus, the event and the workshop opened with a keynote speech by our President Prof. Barış Tan. In his address, Prof. Tan remarked, “Events like this not only inspire students, practitioners, and researchers but also serve as powerful examples of how scientific knowledge can be transformed for the benefit of society. We are committed to increasing the number of such initiatives in line with our University’s goal of creating a global impact.”

The first session featured Prof. Ayşenil Belger from the School of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina (UNC). Renowned for her pioneering work on neurodevelopmental disorders and brain function, Prof. Belger highlighted the importance of longitudinal studies tracking the development of children and adolescents, stating, “These studies enable the delay or prevention of behavioral and mental health disorders. Applying research findings to everyday life and sectors such as healthcare, law, and education is crucial for the healthy development of children and adolescents.”

During the workshop section of the event, participants engaged in group work and interactive sessions focused on translating scientific data into practical applications, culminating in comprehensive discussions of the key findings.
